When combined with a diet and exercise plan, Xenical is usually effective in aiding weight loss. In terms of results, you should aim to lose around 5% of your body weight within the first 13 weeks of your treatment.
After taking Xenical for 3 months, you should have hit your target of losing 5% of your body weight.If the treatment is working, you are losing weight and your BMI is above 28, you can take Xenical for up to 2 years.
Xenical, healthy diet and exercise
Weight loss should be a combination of healthy eating and exercise. By cutting the calories that you consume and increasing the calories you burn through exercise, your body will begin to burn fat instead. This will mean that you slowly begin to lose weight.
- A healthy diet should include at least 5 portions of fruit and vegetables daily (this should make up around one-third of your total food consumption), plenty of wholegrain or brown carbohydrates (such as bread, pasta, and rice), and 6-8 cups of water per day. The maximum calorie limit for a man is 2,500kcal a day and 2,000kcal for most women. This will decrease if you are aiming to lose weight.
Xenical dosage
Taken 1 capsule (120mg) up to 3 times daily.
If you have a low-fat meal or skip the main meal there is no need to take Xenical; it only works when you have eaten a meal containing dietary fat.
Your doctor will discontinue the treatment with Xenical after 12 weeks if you have not lost at least 5 % of your body weight as measured at the start of treatment with Xenical.
